AVI (Audio Video Interleave)

AVI là container video cũ của Microsoft giữ cấu trúc đơn giản, dựa trên RIFF. Nó từng là định dạng video Windows mặc định nhưng đã được thay thế bởi MP4 và MKV.

Khi nào nên dùng .AVI

Tránh tạo AVI mới — sử dụng MP4 hoặc MKV thay thế. Chuyển đổi AVI hiện có sang MP4 cho tương thích hiện đại.

Chi tiết kỹ thuật

AVI sử dụng container RIFF với các chunk đan xen (xen kẽ khung âm thanh và video). Nó hỗ trợ hầu hết mọi codec (DivX, XviD, H.264) nhưng thiếu hỗ trợ gốc cho phụ đề, chương và phát trực tuyến hiện đại.

Lịch sử

Microsoft giới thiệu AVI vào năm 1992 cho Video for Windows. Mặc dù giới hạn (không có hỗ trợ phụ đề gốc, giới hạn kích thước 2 GB ban đầu), nó vẫn tồn tại nhờ tính đơn giản.
